Danger In The Shadows ... Hmm, I Sound Like Nancy Drew.

The other day on the way to church we were right around the corner from the church when we reached a police roadblock! We got stuck in a traffic jam right there. They need to start giving some warning. My dad gets out of the car and walks over and knocks on this truck's window. He started telling the guy to move his truck because we needed to go down that road! The bad thing is ... I think he was an undercover cop! See, they had all of these special cops out there.

So what happened was that there were some narco people who had kidnapped three people and were holding them hostage. But they didn't end up catching the narco guys.
As we were sitting there I was like, "Let's take a picture!" So my brother gets the camera (which I have been carrying around for such "snapshot moments" as these)and I said, "Turn off the flash. We don't want them to see us!" He told me to wait a minute and he takes a picture and *FLASH* ... I was so embarrassed. I told my brother, "So much on trying to be conspicuous!"

So the other day my dad was talking in church and he started talking about the drug people and stuff that is going on here in Mexico. After church we were all talking about he shouldn't do that because there could be those people near our church. Why take chances? Lol. And so it turns out that there are some of those people that live near our church. And from what I have heard, the colony our church is in is crawling with them.

This incident did not get published in the newspaper. See, I think the journalists around here are afraid to publish news like this. Lol. Hmm ... maybe I should take a hint and not write about it either! Hehe. But our city is not all that violent. I mean, we've had the occasional judge shot at a stoplight, but nothing too major. Lol. Man, I suppose I might scare away potential visitors with talk like this! But the way I see it is that it is no more dangerous than any city in the U.S. And if you don't mess with people they aren't going to mess with you! So, see, it's safe for anyone who ever wants to come visit. :) ... besides, we've never had anything happen to us (thank God!).

I kind of blurred their faces for them!! Hehe!

A picture I took after church of a few of the girls.

Anyways, just thought I write about something different!

Pictures At The Park ...

I know I said that I would not post pictures from the park, but I decided to anyways!
So here are a few of the pictures that we took while at the park.

Me ... I'll never be too old to like swinging on the swings!!

A flower I stuck on my little purse ... I love flowers!

They call me a treehugger!! Haha!

Can you believe that they even had a shrine at the park?? Crazy!!

I love pictures!!!

Viva Mexico! Even Though I Am A Few Days Late! :)

Well, as you can imagine, since I never did write about it, I did not go to the parade. See, someone at church told me that there were rumors going around that there was going to be a huge riot. I guess people are angry about the state of our dissolved electric company or something. So people were supposed to disrupt the parade and riot. Well, that spoiled the thought for me. I decided that I did not really want to be caught in the middle of a riot if one broke out. You never know what could happen.

It seemed to me as if the Dia De La Independencia (Independence day which they actually celebrate for two days, the 15th and 16th) was really quiet this year. I actually did not hear very many fireworks at all. Usually they do so many fireworks that the air actually gets hazy and you can barely see. But this year it was very uneventful. We never celebrate the day. We never celebrate any day. So it was just any other day for us, and no one invited us to eat at their house or anything. So, yeah, it was just any other boring day to me. Oh well.

I did follow my brother up on top of the house to hang up a Mexican flag that my dad bought (that was as much "holiday spirit" we got). And you have to climb up two different ladders to get up there. I am terrified of heights. So, needless to say, I had a difficult time climbing down. Hehe. My dad had to go and hold the ladder and my brother took a cable thing that was on the roof and wrapped it under my arms. Only then was I able to climb down. Lol. And afterwards I always wonder why I put myself through such things. It would be a great story to tell though. "I fell off of the roof and broke my arm and leg!" Okay, but it is definitely not something I really want to do.

My best friend in our church came over to my house again last week. It seems like we are always hanging out. I am so grateful to have found a true friend. But I hate sounding sappy so I will not say anything else. Hehe. We spent all day Friday running around doing errands for my parents. I definitely did not plan that, but my dad got sick. So I had to go to all these different stores (okay, only two) and buy stuff. Arg. I always get so nervous! I so need to get out on my own more often.

Saturday we decided to go to this park that is a couple of blocks away from our house. I had never been there before, but I have seen it like a million times. So off we walk (we would've taken the bikes except that mine totally broke the day before when we rode to Oxxo on the bikes ... oh, hahaha, and Lupita hit a car! It was hilarious!). I stopped to pluck some pretty pink flowers out of a corn field to stick in my hair. And then I stated some nonsense about having a free spirit. Lol. So now Lupita, who is learning English, has picked it up. I guess I should be careful with the things I say. She could learn to talk like a countrified Texan. Lol. "How are y'all doin'?" Hehe.

Anyways, as we neared the park we saw two ambulances and a police car parked in front of the entrance. They were loading a person inside one of the ambulances. I got all panicked because I absolutely abhor seeing gory things. So I suggested that we walk around until the emergency vehicles (as they call them in the Texas Driver's Handbook) left. But Lupita got scared because ... well, I don't really know why. So we went to go back to the park entrance again. And when we got there we saw this big pool of blood on the pavement. Oh, what a terrible sight. I got an awful feeling in my stomach just from seeing that (and I was unable to eat later). But we went inside trying not to look. Well, I was trying not to. I don't know about Lupita. See, I don't want to be like all of those people who enjoy seeing stuff like that. You know, all of those people who stand around the scene of an accident gawking. No thanks, not me.

Once inside the park we went to sit on the swings. I was getting all paranoid. I am always imagining scary things. I said, "What if that person was shot?" So then I was all suspicious of the few people (all men) who were sitting in the park. But I finally got over my paranoia enough to walk around the park with Lupita. We took about a thousand pictures which I will not force you to look at! Hehe. In the end we did have fun, once we got over the horrible possible fates that could have become of that person.

The flag my dad bought!

Up to the roof we go!

Me cautiously climbing up!

My parents watching. My mum was saying, "Dacia, you scare me." Because she knows that I am terrified of heights. My problem is that I can get up very easily, but I cannot get down.

Ma and the flag! "Mexicana yo soy ..." Not really. :)

Jake making sure that the flag will not fall down.

The pretty corn field in front of our house.

The dogs playing!

Trying to get down. Man, that was scary!

Me, toasting to my success of getting down off the roof! Lol.

Me and Lupita were at the pet store (my favorite place ever) in the mall. They had the cutest little pomeranian.

Me, yeah, I was in the bathroom at the mall.

In the elevator. I must say, we need another best friend. Then we would have someone to take our pictures for us. :)

At Starbucks, our favorite place in the world.

Me, Myself, and I.

A humongous pumpkin at WalMart!! Hehehe ... I know, weird picture!

We were sitting on the ledge outside of my window!

Peace & Love!

Blah Blah Blah (nope, I couldn't think of a better title)!

Tonight we had a good service. Even though when I got up to sing I couldn't find the page with the song on it. And then it seemed the music just got worse from there. And we're yelling at each other up on the platform while maintaining a smile. Haha! No, I am just kidding. We weren't yelling. We were just like, "What did you do with it?" "I don't know! I left it right there!" That was what we were saying while keeping our faces happy! Hehe!

Lupis and I. This is one of the matching shirts we bought! Yay! I finally found someone who likes to match with me! My sister would never do that!

Me and one of my favorite people in the world, Lucia

A big moth that the dogs were trying to eat. It flew in the window and landed on my dad's desk. He said, "Everyone come look! There's a monster on my desk!" I was expecting a huge spider or a lizard or something cool, not a moth.

So my brother was just in my room. And we were talking. So he leaves and I call him back. I told him that I am learning an opera song. Me, *singing* "L’amour est un oiseau rebelle. Que nul ne peut apprivoiser (Habanera by Georges Bizet. What can I say? I love classical music) ... " Jake, "I think you missed your calling." Me, "See, that's why I don't see opera singing as talent ... anybody can do it." Jake walks out of my room and I close the door ... then I reopen it and say, "Although I probably couldn't fill an auditorium without a mic." I walked back in my room laughing. See, that is one thing I like, I always make my own self laugh!

"Goodnight, goodnight. Parting is such sweet sorrow, That I shall say goodnight till it be morrow." (Romeo and Juliet) ;)

I have discovered that one of my new favorite things to do is play the drums. Today we went to the church to practice again. We are trying to learn some new songs. My brother is learning the bass. He is going to be playing it in church someday soon. That is why I offered to play the drums. I have been able to keep a beat since ... a long time, but I have never added the drums to my list of instruments that I play. But today my brother showed me this drum roll that is so fun! Now I want to play more! Lol. I told my brother the reason I like that certain drum roll is because it makes me look like I can play pretty good (when I don't really). Hehe!

Okay, this will be totally off subject, but we were just downstairs eating supper. Yeah, we eat rather late at times. I had taken the last Dr. Pepper out of the refrigerator. I got to the table and my brother wanted to know where I had gotten it from. He had been looking for one. So I offered to let him have it because I mostly drink diet soda anyways. So we were sitting there pushing it back and forth. My mom kept saying, "Yeah, well, he has a glass of milk." And I would say, "I really don't care if you take it, Jake." But he would give it back. But then he would say, "I really wanted one though." So finally my dad says, "Well, if neither of you wants it I will take it!" He reached his hand out to take it and suddenly both Jake and I had our hands there! It was really funny! All of the sudden we both felt zero guilt over taking it, just so long as our dad didn't get it! Hehehe! Talk about greedy! What selfish kids we are! Lol.

Anyways, I have to get back to cleaning my room (I feel like I live cleaning my room). So ... peace out! Love, MayMay

Mum on the piano ... okay, not on it but playing it!

He wanted a picture with his instrument! I guess we didn't get a picture of him playing the bass. Oh well.

It looks like my dad is jamming! But he is actually bending down to adjust something on the amplifier. :D

I was really having fun!!

Never Forget!

It's hard to believe that it has been nine years since the attacks on the World Trade Center. It is a day that I will never forget, and we shouldn't forget it. So I just wanted to post so that we can remember all of the people that died on 9/11. And a great big thanks to all our troops overseas fighting for our freedom! God Bless America!

A patriotic outfit that I just created. :)

Proud To Be An American

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I’d thank my God above,
to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

(okay, just exclude the wife part since I will have a husband instead!! Lol)

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

If I am not mistaken, today is Friday, right? I can't remember. Anyways, several years ago my parents started taking one day a week where we all hang out together (well, we're supposed to anyways, lol). We call it "family day." We used to all go out together, but then it was just my parents, my sister, and I. Now it is usually just my parents and I. But today they decided to have a cookout. My mum came to wake me up to go hang out with them outside (I sleep late! Hehe!).

My dog was growling at me ... he's soo weird, but adorable!

Their meat on the "mexican grill."

Some more of their meat on the mini grill!

My daddy!

The sun came out for a few minutes!

Me taking advantage of the couple minutes of sun to try out my new sunglasses (forgive my hairdo ... that's how I woke up this morning! Hahaha!)!

Mum, "NO! Don't take my picture!"

Jake modeling my sunglasses!

Me looking weird!

It was all good until the rain came pouring down! Then along came the wind and cold and we all came inside! Oh well, it was a nice idea anyways!

Now I am trying to get my dad to take me to McDonalds to get a McFlurry!! Hehe!
Peace & Love!
