A Trip To See The Animals

I was bored ... and so I got my dad to take me to the zoo.
We hadn't been to the zoologico in Toluca in a long time.

These were my favorite animals.

Guess who!

This HUGE lion.
It was very comforting to know that the only thing standing between me and this lion's teeth was the chain link fence!

A peacock!

Personally, I think the female peacocks are prettier!

This dude always looks bored.

And the gorilla was begging for popcorn!

Rip, Snort, & Scraunch -the coyotes.

The bear!

Me and my dad.

Award for "The Most Amusing Exhibit" goes to:
Canis Familiaris a.k.a domestic dogs.
I mean, seriously, why are there dogs in the zoo??

Need proof?
Here is the sign. See, I wasn't lying. They really were there.

"Most Awkward Picture" award goes to:
The peacock.
Has anyone ever actually looked to see how ridiculous they look from behind?

And an honorary mention to this exhibit:
Titled: Homo Sapiens At Work.

Mr. President Came To Town

Guess who came to Toluca?!
That's right! President Barrack Hussein Obama!
Okay, if you hadn't heard about that then I suppose you weren't expecting that.

I really don't know why (because I don't care) but some sort of official meeting between the Mexico president, U.S. president and the prime minister of Canada was held here.

This North American Leaders Summit caused a flurry of activity here in Toluca.

My dad and I went out a couple of days before they would arrive.

We went to the Central De Abastos (it's just a BIG market).

We were just running errands ... you know, buying toilet paper (Ha. Ha.)!

Well, we had a good laugh because we realized that they were really preparing BIG TIME for these foreigners' visit.
Fountains that are never on ... were on.

And you can't really tell but this median that is always piled with trash ...
... had no trash.

Everywhere we turned there was construction.

Paving and striping the roads!

There were police everywhere!

Those were all military helicopters!

And they put up a nice welcome sign!

And for the first time ever I saw an AMERICAN flag flying in Mexico! I felt so happy to see it!

And the day that Obama arrived ... I saw the whole thing because I was circling overhead in the sky in my helicopter! ;)

Okay, I am sure no one reading this feels excited about the whole thing! But it was a pretty big exciting to me so get over it!

Bye bye!!

The Things I Write About My Best Friend ...

The whole week of the services Lupita decided to come crash at my house.
We decided that we would do a TON of fun stuff!
Of course, we always have good intentions but someone (ahem) is always too tired and sleepy to do anything.

She had been wanting some of my world famous (He. He.) chocolate chip cookies so I told her that it would be a good time to make them. So she helped me a little bit.

Pouring the butter into the mix.

Me washing off the eggs.
Am I the only person that has some sort of egg phobia and feels the urgent need to wash them with soap before cracking them?? Maybe I am weird? Or does everyone do that?

And a picture with her acting like she knows what she's doing!

Of course, what Lupita didn't know is that it takes all night to make all the sixty something cookies. She soon got bored and fell asleep, snoring, of course, while I was left baking all of the rest of the thousand cookies!

And so the days continued with her always falling asleep. And she told me not to quote her or anything which is exactly why I am blogging about this! Never tell me not to or I will!

One night we decided that we wanted to sleep in a tent. I found our tent and we went onto the roof. Lupita claimed to know how to put one together (I have never done it before).
I pulled the tent out.

Templeton decided to sit in the bag.

Lupita tried and tried. But she only thought she knew what she was doing ... well, we soon discovered that to get the dumb thing set up that we needed soft ground to drive the stakes into. So then we got discouraged and gave up ... because she was sleepy again.

So yeah, that's pretty much the end of our adventures. I had fun with Grandma Lupita and I'm glad she got to stay with me. And I suppose I should really quit blogging about her but I do it because I know it irks her!
Ha. Ha. Ha.

Peace out!
The Annoying Best Friend.

February Anniversary

After a whole year of not visiting Pastor Trevino graced us with his presence again!
And we had our twelve year anniversary services (because the church has officially been here for that long now). Our church has two anniversaries! The first one is in February when my dad first came to preach to the people in 2002 (I think). And our second anniversary is in July when my family moved here that same year!

Pastor Morgan from Louisiana preached and it was really awesome!

He also sang some songs, but they must have been like some old country church songs or something because I had never heard them!

Pastor Trevino preaching. I really enjoy his preaching!

We had a few visitors from other churches but I don't know who they were.
Like this little man who is a pastor from somewhere here in Mexico.

The most exciting thing about the whole week was that several of my Sunday School kids got baptized!
I was excited because I had been talking to them about the Holy Ghost and baptism.

Seven of the eight kids who got baptized are my kids!! Talk about being one proud teacher!

Pastor Trevino saying some words.

Gerardo. I think he's going to grow up to be a preacher (maybe)!

He also just received the Holy Ghost!

It's so beautiful to see these little kids growing up without worldly influences and getting a love for God in their hearts. I hope that they continue in this truth once they grow up.

We had some good services!

I got a picture with Belem (the Sunday School teacher of the little kids).

Lupita, Me & Gaby (the only girls I ever seem to take pictures with).

At the end of our three day "conference" we had a meal. But alas, I totally forgot to take any pictures and so this terrible one below is the only thing I took.
I think everyone was bowing their heads while praying for the food!

Well, I guess this is the end!
He. He.
